Incorporating Identity Narratives in Literature and Gender Studies Courses

Marina DelVecchio, Maggie McDowell

2019

Type: Durham Tech Teaching Fellows Program

Professor Marina DelVecchio (Durham Tech) is working with Duke PhD student Maggie McDowell to redesign two courses at Durham Tech: an online American Women's Studies course (HUM 150) and a seated American Literature II course (ENG 232). They plan to add disability and transgender voices to both classes and implement digital portfolios, encouraging students to engage with various modes of identity narratives that reflect their own individual identities/narratives related to their respective literature and gender studies courses.
