Maddie's project examines the role of women in the electrification of the rural United States. Through the National Museum of American History's collection of the papers of Louisan Mamer, a home economist hired by the Rural Electrification Administration to encourage home electric appliance use by farmers’ wives, Maddie explores how women’s roles expanded and changed during the rural electrification period.
